PD impersonator stops woman on bogus DUI charge

Peoria police are warning about a man who is impersonating a law enforcement officer after he pulled a woman over on suspicion of drunken driving.

The 56-year-old victim said she was driving near 99th Avenue and Thunderbird Road at around 9 p.m. Friday when the man driving a full-sized sedan activated a white flashing light above the driver’s door.

After the woman stopped, the suspect approached, displayed a badge and said he worked for the Peoria Police Department.
