Grand Lake crash victims’ families push for stronger DUI boating laws

The families of a former Miss Teen Oklahoma and her friend killed in an alcohol-related boating accident are fighting to have legislation toughened so that people caught intoxicated and operating a boat will have their motor vehicle licenses suspended.

House Bill 1714 authored by state Rep. Doug Cox, R-Grove, has been assigned to the Public Safety Committee and is expected to be heard this session, which begins Monday.
