Suspect in Plano DWI case could face murder charge

Charges against the man Plano police say hit four pedestrians while driving drunk last week are expected to be upgraded following the death of one of the victims.

Benjamin Kevin Newman, a 22-year-old Dallas resident, has been charged with driving while intoxicated and accident involving injury. With the death Sunday of Plano resident Christopher Ryan Brigman, 23, new charges could range from intoxication assault to murder, said Officer David Tilley, Plano PD spokesman.
