An Oregon law requiring drivers caught driving while intoxicated to install Ignition Interlock Devices in their vehicles could be lifted for certain offenders if a bill passes the Legislature this session.

The Senate Judiciary Committee sent House Bill 4026 to the full Senate with an amendment making the devices optional for drivers eligible for diversion programs who had a blood alcohol content more than the legal limit of 0.08 but less than 0.15. It would be up to judges in Oregon to decide.
