A 22-year-old Garfield policeman has been charged with driving while intoxicated and assault by auto just eight days after being sworn in as a patrolman.
Patrick R. Sajewicz, a patrolman who also lives in Garfield, was operating a 2014 Infinity on Oct. 15 when he allegedly failed to maintain control of the vehicle and crashed into a building on Main Street in Chester, according to a joint announcement by Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Chester Borough Police Chief David Jara released Wednesday morning.
