New DWI proposal / Sobering questions

The Legislature is considering a bill to revamp New Jersey’s drunken-driving law, but the measure seems to raise more questions than it answers.

Under existing law, first-time offenders with a blood-alcohol concentration of more than 0.08 percent face mandatory license suspensions of from three months to a year; first-time offenders with a BAC of more than 0.15 percent are also required to install an ignition interlock device, which measures a driver’s alcohol concentration before allowing a vehicle to start.
