Hartford Fire Chief Alerts Firefighters Of DUI Checkpoint

Fire Chief Carlos Huertas, whose department has come under scrutiny following the drunken-driving arrests of a number of firefighters, alerted all fire department personnel Friday to a police DUI checkpoint scheduled for that night in the city.

The email, sent to the entire department, contained an attachment of a police press release providing details of the Brainard Road checkpoint and the text: “FYI” and “subject: DUI Checkpoint,” followed by Huertas’ standard email sign-off of “respectfully submitted.”
