DWI cases backed up in Orleans Traffic Court, TV station reports

There are more than 12,000 open DWI cases pending in Orleans Parish Traffic Court, according to reporting by WWL-TV reporter Michael Perlstein.

Cases stack up, allowing repeat offenders to keep driving, Perlstein found, with critics including Mothers Against Drunk Driving and New Orleans Inspector General Ed Quatrevaux stating the court is the slowest in the state.
