DUI suspect gets 15 years for hitting construction worker

MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) – A drunk driver charged with hitting a construction worker in Mt. Pleasant two years ago has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars, according to court records.

Daniel Hamrick, 36, was sentenced Friday on charges of felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury.

Authorities say Hamrick hit a Banks Construction worker on Highway 17 North on November 14, 2011 around 3:30 a.m. The worker was pushed into an asphalt spreading machine, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
