Cranston Police arrest three for DUI; two police cruisers struck

Cranston Police had a busy weekend after three people were arrested and two police cruisers were struck in three different incidents beginning Saturday morning.

Police say that at 1:14 a.m. on Saturday, a marked Cranston police cruiser was struck by another vehicle outside the Mardi Gras nightclub on Oaklawn Avenue. The cruiser was unattended, but officers were standing nearby. When officers approached the vehicle, they observed signs of intoxication and performed a series of field sobriety tests which the suspect failed. Police arrested 24-year-old Alex Sanville of Swansea and charged him with Driving Under the Influence and Refusal to Submit to a Breathalyzer Test.
