Texas district attorney's arrest for drunken driving is at center of Gov. Rick Perry’s indictment
Three days after Governor Rick Perry called himself “awesome,” he was indicted by a grand jury for abuse of power — but the circumstances of the charges left Democrats and Republicans alike wondering if they are politically motivated.
The indictment states Perry's crime was vetoing state funds to the Public Integrity Unit, headed by Rosemary Lehmberg, a Democrat and the district attorney for Travis County, who was arrested for drunken driving in April 2013.
