Louisiana loves a party. From Mardi Gras to music festivals to football tailgating, many of this state's favorite activities involve music, food — and alcohol.
More than 1,000 DWI arrests are made in Lafayette Parish each year. But few of those arrested ever see serious consequences. A 2012 Daily Advertiser report showed that out of 4,532 DWI cases in Lafayette Parish over three years, 29 went to trial. Thirteen people were found guilty.
