A drunken motorist who killed his passenger pal when his speeding Land Rover collided with a street pole was sentenced to five years imprisonment and banned from driving for 15 years, a judge ruled today.
Oliver Karafa’s “eggregious” driving conduct cost his friend and personal trainer David Chiang his life, said Justice Gary Trotter in passing sentence against the 21-year-old first offender, who had an “otherwise good character” and has exhibited remorse for the April 3, 2012 crash.
